Job Information

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Perioperative registered nurse provides patient care through assessing, planning, and implementing the nursing care patients receive before, during and after surgery. These activities include patient assessment, creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment, pre- and post-operative patient education, monitoring the patient’s physical and emotional well-being, and integrating and coordinating patient care throughout the surgical care continuum.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Performs all aspects of patient care during the peri-operative process, from scheduling through discharge including circulating surgical cases, recovering post-op patients and post-op follow ups.
• Order necessary supplies for surgical cases.
• Assist in keeping department stocked and inventory current.
• Ensure all necessary equipment is working properly prior to surgeries.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting on equipment as needed.
• Collect data for quality improvement projects.
• All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:
• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS, ACLS and PALS Certification

Education Preferred
• BSN

Minimum Experience Required
• 2 years hospital experience
• Surgical nursing experience

Experience preferred:
• 1 year working as a circulating nurse.
Skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
• Computer skills and ability to use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) or the willingness to learn the EHR.

Job Information

The Surgical Technologist is an allied health professional and essential member of the surgical team. Surgical Technologists provide surgical care to patients by setting up cases and passing instruments and other sterile supplies to the surgeon to facilitate safe and efficient surgical procedures. Through effective communication, working closely with the circulating nurse and anesthesia provider, and by adhering to professional standards and guidelines, they ensure that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

The Central Sterile Processing Technician is involved in all activities related to cleaning, sterilizing, and storing of surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining required documentation, and keeping sterile and non-sterile supplies stocked in the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room
• Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment for the surgery department and other departments as needed.
• Run routine testing and daily maintenance of sterilizers.
• Stock adequate supplies for the department, while keeping inventory current
• Accountability for compliance with laws, regulations, and policies to demonstrate ethical behavior
• All other duties or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:
• Completion of a School of surgical technology or program otherwise acceptable

Minimum Experience Required
• School of surgical technology clinical rotations

Experience Preferred
• 1 year as a Surgical Technologist

Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
• Surgical Technologist certification (CST) or (CORST) preferred
• AHA BLS certification, or must obtain within 3 months of hire
