BIG BEAR LAKE – The Bear Valley Community Health Care District has welcomed a second surgeon providing nearly around the clock coverage for emergency surgery and on-call surgery.
Paul Stemmer, M.D., is a board-certified general surgeon with 36 years of experience. Stemmer completed his surgical residency at California State University, Irvine in 1986 and is trained in robotic surgery, as well as specializing in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery.
Stemmer boasts a 5-star patient experience rating from U.S. News and World Report and joins his longtime surgical partner William Cannata, M.D. at BVCHD to provide on-call and emergency surgery services handling everything from appendectomies to hernia repairs, colonoscopies and more.

Prior to joining the team at BVCHD, Stemmer worked with Cannata were affiliated with the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, but both now reside in the Big Bear Valley.
