2024 Daisy Award Winner Named

The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District (BVCHD) named it’s 2024 Daisy Award winner after 17 nominations were received.

The hospital’s case management supervisor Traci Wilson, RN, BSN, took home the prestigious award. Sponsored by the Daisy Foundation, the award celebrates and recognizes nurses by collecting nominations from patients, families, and co-workers in hospitals across the nation and reinforces the importance of compassion in healthcare.

“I have so much gratitude to have been chosen for the Daisy honoree. It has reminded me of the reason I became a nurse,” said Wilson. “Helping patients has been my main focus since I started my career. I am truly honored to have been nominated with all the wonderful nurses I work side by side with.”

In her winning nomination a situation was described in which Traci sprang into action on a busy Friday to make arrangements for homeless patient to stay in a hotel for the weekend and arranged transportation down to residential care on Monday after original plans had fallen through. She even went to a church to ensure he had enough food for the weekend. “Over the top, above and beyond care,” said the nomination.

BVHCD brought the Daisy award to the organization in 2021 and has now named four compassionate caregivers as honorees. In 2023 the district also awarded a lifetime achievement award to Nancy McGivney, RN.

“BVCHD is excited to honor Traci Wilson as our fourth Daisy Nurse,” said Kerri Jex, BVCHD’s Chief Nursing Officer. “Traci exemplifies the compassionate qualities that embody what the DAISY Foundation seeks to honor in this very meaningful award.  Traci is dedicated to her work and seeks to provide high quality care to all that she encounters in her role as a Case Manager.  Bear Valley is very proud to have Traci as part of our nursing team.”
