BIG BEAR LAKE – The Bear Valley Community Health Care District has welcomed four new providers as part of its continuing missing to bring expanded services to residents, so they don’t have to travel off the mountain for quality care.
John Nicolaisen, PA, joins BVCHD’s Family Health Clinic with decades of experience as a paramedic, flight medic and PA. A resident of Lake Arrowhead, Nicolaisen, 50, received his Master’s in PA sciences from Loma Linda and comes to the District from Heritage Victor Valley.
He’s been married for 22 years, has three daughters and two dogs, including a deaf Great Dane. Although he said he felt like his biggest hobby last year was shoveling snow, he does enjoy hiking and getting involved with his daughters’ school activities. His favorite thing about being a PA is seeing improvements in patients’ lives.
Big Bear Urgent Care has welcomed its second provider, to further expand its services and availability to the Big Bear Valley. Jessica Rule, PA, 37, has joined the accomplished staff at Big Bear Urgent Care. She joins a great team and has become a resident of the Big Bear Valley.
“I’m an avid outdoors enthusiast and loved the community of the Big Bear Valley the second I stepped foot in in,” Rule said. “I’m looking forward to serving my new friends and neighbors as part of the Big Bear Urgent Care family.”
BVCHD welcomes John Nunn, PA, to the Family Health Center. Nunn received his PA training through the Army, where he served for 23 years, most recently at Fort Irwin and retired as captain. Nunn, 45, grew up in Colorado with three sisters and a brother. He still holds the American record for the mile in race walking with a time of 5:49. In his race-walking career for the Army, Nunn appeared in the 2004, 2012 and 2016 Olympics and 35 international teams in the sport. John has a 19-year-old daughter, enjoys beekeeping and is thinking about relaunching a cookie company he started with his daughter that was featured in the LA Times, Rachel Ray Magazine, NBC and more. Nunn also enjoys boxing and is a huge Denver Nuggets Fan.
Jamie Davidson, NP, has spent 30 years in healthcare from nursing to finance and administration and now joins BVCHD’s Family Health Center as a nurse practitioner. Davidson, 58, carried out her clinical residency at the FHC and is already familiar with the staff and many of the patients there. “My calling is being in healthcare and taking care of patients,” Davidson said. She describes herself as a gym rat and loves to run, hike, and read and is working towards the goal of becoming a functional medicine specialist. She loves Big Bear because it is a small town where everyone is close.
